Ian Renshaw, Chief Executive for Wightcable says "we are delighted to be able to support the Hospice in the essential work they do in providing care for those affected by cancer. We hope that the donations made by us will significantly help the good work to continue and expand its scope".

Cowes Week Ltd

"Our World Class Regatta depends on World Class voice and data communications. That's why Skandia Cowes Week partners with Wightcable to provide a range of services that include a 1Gb fibre network. Connecting three critical locations in and around Cowes, it allows us to broadcast a dedicated television channel for the distribution of race results and video streaming of races in the Solent."

Stuart Quarrie, CEO, Cowes Week Ltd.

Downside Middle School

"Our School Council would like to thank Wight Cable for its sponsorship, enabling these planners to be bought."

Downside Middle School is the only Full Service Extended School on the Isle of Wight and is held up as a national example of good practice. Recent coverage has included filming from ITN with regard to the extended services on offer, and articles and documentation from the Department of Education and Skills as well as coverage in The Guardian with regard to the school's Mini Moto Club which is seen as innovative and leading edge practice.

The school is in the centre of The Pan Estate in Newport, which is the biggest spread of social housing on the Island. The school serves a community which is the subject of a Government Pathfinder initiative and is also a community likely to change remarkably over the next few years as the Pan Urban Extension (a development of close on 1000 houses) comes on line.

The school received an Ofsted Inspection in November 2006 and was classified as a satisfactory school with the good capacity to improve further. Downside's curriculum is lively to say the least and encompasses drama, dance and other extended activities which serve to enhance the communication skills of the students. In the November 2006 Inspection, the school received a grade 1 ('outstanding') for its partnership work and this grade is an accurate reflection of the collaborative work that Downside undertakes with Barton and Summerfields Primaries, Medina House Special School and the Family Learning Team which runs the only initiative of its kind in a middle school at Downside every Monday.

Future priorities for the school are the raising of standards in literacy, ICT and Science. As a learning community, it is widely accepted that the pace of change at Downside is rapid as the school seeks to shake off an undeservedly poor reputation which it has been shackled with at times in the past.

"We are delighted to be sponsoring the planners for Downside Middle School for the second consecutive year.  We can see the progress being made at Downside and congratulate the school on the improvements made during the last academic year.

Progress is essential in every walk of life and at Wightcable we have also been working hard to improve our services. Last year we stated that part of our commitment was to extend our services across the whole island. I am pleased to say that we have gone a long way in achieving this goal by introducing our Connect product, which is now available to every home on the island.

As an Isle of Wight based company we are proud to work very closely with the Earl Mountbatten Hospice by making donations for every new customer who joins Wightcable.

We are here to serve you and through continued investment in people and technology our aim is to deliver the best quality services possible to all our residential and business customers."
Ian Renshaw, Chief Executive

Gurnard Youth Football Team

Gurnard Footbal TeamIn July 2005 as the latest group of children to come through the Gurnard youth Nursery we formed a team called the Gurnard Navy and played in the Isle of Wight Sunday Mini Soccer league. In our First season we finished 5th and were unbeaten in our last ten games of the season. During the summer months we were Runners up in the Oakfield and the Meon Milton,Portsmouth Tournements.

For our second season at u9s we changed our name to The Gurnard Warriors, we finished third in the league only losing two games all season whilst only considering fourteen goals, the best deficit in the league.

After the seaon finished we really progressed as a team, firstly winning the Isle of Wight Junior soccer tournament at Easter against island and mainland teams. Then winning the Downside tournament. We then travelled to The Testwood and the Havant and Waterlooville Tournaments and won both of these.

We will soon be starting the under tens season and have high hopes of future success mainly because of the effort and determination that the kids put in to making themselves better and disciplined players.
